Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and Rep. Fred Upton, R-St. Joseph, reintroduced bills in the Senate and House on 1/17/2007 that would give Ibrahim permanent U.S. residency. These bills were originally introduced 12/13/2005, but there was no action taken during the last session.   Read more.
Thank you very much Congressman Upton and Senator Levin.

Senator Levin and Congressman Upton have written a letter to DHS secretary Chertoff.  Read here.

"He's been a very good citizen for over a decade now," said Sen. Carl Levin (D-Michigan).   "He has proven the fact that he is a peaceful citizen -- a model citizen.  I'm deeply concerned by this matter.  I think the result thus far has been unjust, not only to Mr. Parlak, but also to who we are and what we are as a country."

Senator Carl Levin also said in Benton Harbor on May 2nd in regards to Ibrahim’s case: "There must be a distinction between a terrorist and those fighting for human rights."   Senator Levin has also stated that if Ibrahim does not succeed in court he is willing to introduce a private bill for Ibrahim.

Senator Carl Levin made a statement about Ibrahim in the Senate.
